As part of its commitment to providing comprehensive water safety education in the community, Council designed the Swimming Instructor Recruitment Day to streamline the application process and make a career in swim teaching more accessible to interested individuals.
A total of 27 aspiring Swimming Instructors, including three walk-ins, attended the event, which offered a relaxed, nurturing and inclusive environment that made it easy for attendees to engage in informal conversations with Council staff and fast-track the recruitment process.
Council's Aquamoves Centre Manager, Steven Wilson, shared his excitement about the results achieved.
"Our recruitment day was a significant success and we're excited to welcome so many passionate individuals to our team. Swimming Instructors play a pivotal role in our mission to create a safer aquatic environment for our community,” Mr Wilson said.
The event was also praised by attendees for its relaxed and informal atmosphere, ease of understanding and the clear information provided. Participants said they appreciated the valuable insights into the Aquatic Education industry and the opportunity to learn from the experienced team at Aquamoves.
Council now looks forward to training and on-boarding the new instructors, who will join the Aquamoves team to help continue the important mission of teaching today for a safer tomorrow.
Council remains dedicated to providing ongoing support for those who aspire to become Swimming Instructors. Anyone who missed the recruitment day and is interested in a career in swim teaching, is encouraged to get in touch by emailing council@shepparton.vic.gov.au.
