Each month, Greater Shepparton City Council makes decisions that shape the future of our region. Here’s a quick snapshot of some of the key outcomes from the June 2025 Council Meeting.
Budget and financial planning locked in
Council formally adopted the 2025/2026 Budget and Revenue and Rating Plan 2025–2029, securing funding to deliver core services and infrastructure. Updates to the Borrowing Policy, Investment and Cash Management Policy, and Procurement Policy were also approved to ensure sound financial governance.

Hard Waste Collection Service
Council has approved the rollout of a Hard Waste Collection Service, set to begin in July 2026, as part of the next phase of our Circular Economy goals.

Community safety gets a boost
Council endorsed the findings of the Safer City Camera Network Review, agreeing to partner with local police and community groups to develop a new Community Safety Strategy. Updates to supporting documents, including the Memorandum of Understanding with Victoria Police, will also be delivered by the end of the year.

Economic growth and local jobs
The new Economic Development Strategy 2025–2030 was adopted, laying the groundwork for supporting local business, attracting investment, and creating new job opportunities. Council also appointed new community representatives to the Shepparton Showgrounds Advisory Committee, and acknowledged outgoing members for their contributions.

A safer way forward on the roads
Following community consultation, Council adopted the new Mobility and Road Safety Strategy and Action Plan 2025–2029, which outlines improvements to help everyone travel safely and confidently across the region.
