Greater Shepparton City Council today launched its latest Official Visitors Guide (OVG) and 2015/2016 events calendar, highlighting the many tourism and event opportunities in the Greater Shepparton region.
To get your copy of the Visitors Guide or the 2015/2016 major events calendar, visit greatershepparton.com.au/visitors to download, or drop into the Visitor Centre, 33 Nixon Street Shepparton.
The OVG features Greater Shepparton’s amazing attractions, including what to see, what to do, where to eat and where to stay. More than 80,000 copies will be printed and distributed to tourism operators throughout the region and all Visitor Centres statewide, southern NSW and selected centres further afield.
The 2015/2016 major events calendar provides a great balance of major events covering a 12 month period and a broad cross section of categories including arts and culture, food and wine, business, motoring and sporting events.
Greater Shepparton Mayor Dennis Patterson said Council is committed to building tourism and economic development through major events in the Greater Shepparton region.
“This event program looks to deliver over 30 million and around 250,000 visitors to the region in the next 12 months delivering valuable stimulation to our tourism industry and many business and services providers,” Cr Patterson said.
“There are a number of new major events we will be hosting in the coming 12 months including July’s Nationals MotorX in Mooroopna, September’s Victorian Teachers Games and Cycling Australia Junior Road Nationals, January’s two week Australian Teams and Individual Seniors Tennis Championships, February’s Australia Dairy Conference and the Australian Mini Mokes Nationals Convention over the Easter period in March.
These events are on top of our annual hallmark events which will be continue to be hosted in Greater Shepparton, including Challenge Shepparton Triathlon, Shepparton Festival, KidsFest, Spring Car Nationals and International Dairy Week.
“This program will continue to put Greater Shepparton on the national map with over 20 national and international events currently on the calendar and this helps build our reputation as a leading events destination in regional Australia.
“The OVG is one of the most important tools we have to showcase our region to visitors. This year’s guide is one of the most comprehensive guides to Greater Shepparton that has been produced with over 70 businesses featured.”
