From Tuesday 8 to Thursday 10 September, Council will host a major exhibition in the iconic Queens Hall, highlighting the people, industries and projects that continue to position Greater Shepparton as one of Victoria's leading regional centres.
Featuring representatives from business, agriculture, manufacturing, transport, education, tourism, arts, health and community sectors, the showcase will provide an opportunity for parliamentarians, government representatives and stakeholders to hear firsthand about the innovation, resilience and ambitions driving the region's success.
Deputy Mayor, Councillor Geoff Akers, said the exhibition was an opportunity to promote the region and advocate for the investment needed to support future growth.
“Taking our story to Parliament House allows us to showcase the achievements of our businesses, industries and communities directly to the people making decisions about Victoria's future,” he said.
“We have the land, the workforce, the industries and the opportunities to help drive the next chapter of growth for our state. What we need now is continued investment in the infrastructure and services that will unlock that potential.”
Local products, innovations and displays from some of Greater Shepparton's leading businesses and industries will be on show, highlighting the region's strengths in food manufacturing, agriculture, advanced manufacturing, transport, tourism, arts and culture.
A Welcome Reception, sponsored by Member for Shepparton, Kim O'Keeffe, will be held on Wednesday evening and bring together leaders from across government, industry and the community to celebrate Greater Shepparton's contribution to the state's economy and future growth.
“This event will reinforce Greater Shepparton's reputation as a regional city of opportunity and ensure the region's voice is heard at the highest levels of government,” Cr Akers said.
