Council working with community to progress action on cycling facilities, including a solution to bike jumps

After receiving nearly 100 expressions of interest from community members, a Reference Group is being established to assist Council to develop an appropriate dirt jump facility and other cycling infrastructure within Greater Shepparton.

Council this week sent an e-newsletter to community members who registered an interest, with the option to either:

  • Be considered for one of 10 community member positions on the Reference Group, or
  • Continue to receive updates via email on progress and activity

The Reference Group will assist and help guide Council to identify, prioritise, plan and action activities to improve our cycling related facilities.

Despite the initial expression of interest being targeted at dirt jumps, those who registered their interest covered a much broader range of cycling disciplines and ideas for our region.

Due to this, it is likely that outside this Reference Group there will also be specific Working Groups that will target actions and facilities for the many different disciplines of cycling.

Council is working towards establishing the Reference Group, and plan to hold the first meeting prior to the Christmas break.

Council thanks all community members who have expressed their interest and commitment to shaping the future of cycling in Greater Shepparton.
