Businesses in Greater Shepparton who have been listed as a current COVID-19 exposure site could now be eligible to receive a COVID-19 Deep Cleaning Grant.
Greater Shepparton City Council have established the grants to complement the Victorian Government’s COVIDSafe Deep Cleaning Rebate.
The program aims to support small and medium-sized businesses operating within Greater Shepparton by providing financial support to assist with the cost of ‘decontamination’ cleaning. These services are required to be carried out following the notification of a suspected or confirmed COVID-19 case at the site.
Grant funding is now available for up to $500 for eligible businesses who can demonstrate that they have had to perform a ‘deep clean’ or a ‘decontamination clean’ at their worksite, in accordance with the Department of Health and Human Services COVID-19 guidelines.
Mayor, Cr Kim O’Keeffe said the purpose of this new grant was to decrease any out of pocket cleaning expenses for local businesses who have been deemed an exposure site and are doing it tough during the current COVID-19 outbreak in Shepparton.
“The Victorian Government rebate is a fantastic incentive that offers to cover up to 80 per cent of the cleaning costs for eligible businesses,” she said.
“Our newly developed COVID-19 Deep Cleaning Grant aims to assist with bridging the gap and covering some or all of the remaining costs which are not covered by the rebate. We hope this additional support will help business owners and staff get back on their feet and trading as normal.
“Council is working hard to assist local businesses and support agencies in any way we can to ensure our community recovers from this latest outbreak.”
