Councillor Shane Sali was elected as Mayor for Greater Shepparton City Council at today’s Additional Council Meeting.
This will be Cr Sali’s first time serving as Mayor since being elected in 2020. Cr Sali will serve as Mayor for the remaining period of the current term alongside Deputy Mayor Cr Anthony Brophy.
Today’s Additional Council Meeting was called following Cr Kim O’Keeffe resigning her position as Mayor on Monday 6 June. Cr O’Keeffe also applied for a Leave of Absence which will come in to effect from 5pm, Friday 10 June until the results of the upcoming State Election have been declared.
In Cr Sali’s Mayoral address following the election, he said he was excited for the next steps as Mayor and continuing to strengthen Greater Shepparton’s stance as a dynamic and prosperous regional city.
“I look forward to working hard together to deliver the important things that matter most for our region,” he said.
“We should be very proud of where we are, we are the benchmark. Greater Shepparton must continue to lead the way.
“I look forward to taking Greater Shepparton to greater heights. I will continue to work hard for the things that matter most and to position Greater Shepparton as the ultimate destination.”
