With many people in isolation across Greater Shepparton who require day 13 COVID-19 tests, plans have been put in place to ensure the process is as smooth as possible for everyone involved.
Greater Shepparton City Council have been working closely with Goulburn Valley Health to manage the expected flow of people through the five testing sites across Greater Shepparton over the coming days.
Day 13 tests are required for people currently in isolation and a negative result is needed as part of their release from quarantine. Anyone in isolation should rely on the information they receive from the Department of Health advising when their day 13 test should be completed.
To ensure the day 13 testing process runs smoothly, students linked to exposure sites at particular schools have been given specific times for when to get tested. Only primary close contacts need to be tested on day 13 and not the whole household, unless someone has symptoms of COVID-19 or if they have been to another exposure site.
Students linked to the below school exposure sites are asked to get their day 13 tests at any of the testing locations during the times outlined below:
Parents with children in multiple year levels are asked to attend the time allocated for their youngest child. People unable to attend during the allocated times can make their way to a testing site when possible.
People who miss their day 13 COVID-19 test can still come forward to be tested following this time. Quarantine will end once a negative test result is received by the Department of Health and Human Services. If you have not received clearance from DHHS following your test, call the department on 1800 675 398.
Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Cr Kim O’Keeffe acknowledged that while there is expected to be a large influx in people requiring tests in the coming days there was plans in place to ensure the process runs smoothly and to schedule.
“Thursday is expected to be the highest demand for testing and Council have worked closely with Goulburn Valley Health to ensure there is increased resources available to meet this demand at testing sites,” she said.
“There will also be processes in place to manage queues across each day so we urge people to be patient. Once again we encourage anyone attending a testing site to bring food, water and something to keep them entertained.
“I offer a huge thank you to the Greater Shepparton community, especially those who have been required to isolate, for doing what has been required of them to ensure we can stop the spread of this current outbreak.”
