Discounted pet registrations extended

There’s still time to take advantage of a discounted fee for your unregistered pets but you need to act by Thursday 11 February.

Greater Shepparton City Council has extended the time to enable more residents to pay a much lower fee on registering their cats and dogs.

“If you register your animals now then you could be paying as little as $5 each and you have peace of mind that as long as your contact details are up to date we can contact you easily to arrange their return home if found or brought to the animal shelter,” said Manager Citizens Services, Laurienne Winbanks.

“Pets sometimes run away in a storm or get out of their property and if they are registered it makes it really easy for us to contact you and return them,” said Ms Winbanks.

“Annual registration fees are due in April each year so if you register now it will be at the reduced rate, then you will receive your renewal letter in April with the regular fee.”

“If you have a puppy or kitten under six months of age it is free to register them. It’s easy to register your dog or cat, just download a Registration Form from our website and bring it into Council for payment. If your pet is desexed the fee is $40 or $20 for a pensioner,” she said.

“We encourage people to ring up or come and have a chat to our friendly Customer Service staff who can help you with the process.”
