The annual 100 Lap Challenge is making a return to the Tatura Swimming Complex on Saturday 22 February 2025. Scheduled from 8.00am to 11.00am, the challenge invites individuals and teams to make a splash for a good cause.
In Summary
Now in its 31st year, the 100 Lap Challenge has grown from its humble beginnings as a friendly pub wager into a cherished community tradition. Participants, including community groups, service clubs, families, and dedicated individuals, take on the impressive 100-lap swim to raise funds for Tatura Hospital and Parkvilla Aged Care Facility.
Aquamoves Centre Manager, Steve Wilson expressed his excitement about the event's return.
“The Tatura 100 Lap Challenge is a fantastic example of community spirit in action. It is a win-win if you are participating as it is a great way to get fit while supporting such vital facilities in our community,” he said.
To date, the event has raised an extraordinary $89,145, funding crucial improvements at Tatura Hospital and Parkvilla Aged Care Facility. These funds have contributed to the purchase of equipment such as new beds, Ventolin pumps, a piano, an oxygen concentrator, a bladder scanner, and the refurbishment of the Parkvilla garden and fencing, enhancing the comfort and wellbeing of residents.
Tatura Local and Event Volunteer, Gary Whyte shared his excitement for the event's return.
"It is incredible to see the community come together year after year to support such an important cause. Celebrating the 31st year of the Tatura 100 Lap Challenge is a testament to the dedication and generosity of our participants, and I can’t wait to see everyone back in the pool,” he said.
The event is open to everyone, regardless of age or skill level. Whether you are a seasoned lap swimmer or simply looking for a fun way to spend the morning with your family, the 100 Lap Challenge in Tatura welcomes all members of the community to join in the festivities. Families or groups are encouraged to swim together or show their support from the sidelines.
There is no entry fee for the event, however each participant or team is expected to raise a minimum $100 sponsorship. Morning tea will be provided for participants.
