A giant Santa, present boxes, reindeer, and a new 6.1 metre Christmas tree are part of the decorations which were installed across the region last week, as the countdown to the festive season begins.
Greater Shepparton City Council have finished installing the festive decorations for the year, with this year’s display including two new additions to the Maude Street Mall Precinct. A new 6.1 metre Christmas tree stands tall in the Maude Street Precinct, outside Village Cinemas, while 20 metal star displays line the poles along Maude Street; adding a festive touch to the new catenary lighting.
This year’s decorations also include a variety of Santa’s in Toolamba, Merrigum and Dookie, a Selfie Elfie in Katandra West, reindeer in Murchison, a three elf stack in Tallygaroopna, Waterloo LED stars in Mooroopna, and an aluminium Christmas tree in Tatura.
Like last year, children will also be able to post their letters to Santa as Santa’s Mailbox returns to the Post Office on Wyndham Street, Shepparton. Letters will be accepted up until Friday 1 December 2023, to make sure it reaches the North Pole in time.
Letters must be addressed to:
Santa
NORTH POLE 9999
To ensure Santa can reply to your letter, please attach a 65c Christmas stamp on the front of the envelope and write your name and address on the back. Please note that Santa can only reply to Australian addresses.
In addition to the festive decorations, the Christmas Wonderland will be open in the Maude Street Precinct at 235 Maude Street from Friday 1 December 2023. Inside the Christmas Wonderland you can get help with all of your Christmas shopping needs, write a Christmas list, organise gift wrapping, enjoy the children’s activities and spend time with the cheeky elves who are on hand to spread some festive cheer.
Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, said he hoped the festive season was a positive and joyful time for the community.
“Keep an eye out for the decorations across Greater Shepparton. We hope they bring a little happiness and cheer to the region this festive season,” he said.
“We encourage people to support our local businesses this Christmas and consider taking the stress out of shopping by visiting the Christmas Wonderland to get help with gift wrapping and finding the perfect gift for your friends and family.”
