Greater Shepparton City Council encourages members of the community to cast their votes for Shepparton for the Top Tourism Town awards before voting closes on Tuesday 31 May.
“This is an amazing opportunity for our city to share the love and appreciation we have for local music, proud Indigenous history and culture, award winning and unique museums and our booming dining scene enriched with flavours produced in our very own backyard,” Mayor Councillor Kim O’Keeffe said.
“Our local businesses and community groups have worked especially hard to grow the tourism offering for our region and this award showcases those incredible efforts on a state and national platform. I encourage our local community and favourite visitors to share their local pride and place a vote for Shepparton and show the rest of the state how great our city is.”
Announced as a finalist in the Victorian Tourism Awards, Top Tourism Town category for the region’s strong cultural offerings, the Greater Shepparton Visitor Centre team have showcased the hard work of local businesses by promoting a Cultural Immersion Itinerary, crafted for the award submission.
The itinerary, found on the Visit Shepparton website provides a full sensory experience that will leave new and returning visitors delighted. Beginning with the arrival to the region, listening to a curated Spotify Playlist ‘Tunes From 3630’. To discovering a thriving arts and culture scene with visits to MOVE, SAM and Kaiela Arts. Take in the flourishing surrounds of the Botanic Gardens, walking in the footsteps of Yorta Yorta ancestors on The Flats and fish with the Burnanga Indigenous Fishing Club. Weaving between the vibrant Street Art or exploring one of the unique small towns on a day trip. Tasting the rich diversity of cuisines and local flavours lovingly prepared throughout the region.
Vote now for Shepparton as the Top Tourism Town with polls open until Tuesday 31 May.
Voters will be in the draw to win ‘one perfect Melbourne weekend’ for two sponsored by Time Out and Sofitel Melbourne on Collins, including two nights’ accommodation, dining vouchers and tickets to the Lume exhibition.
State Award winners will be announced in July, if successful towns will then be judged for the National Top Tourism Town Awards.
