Greater Shepparton residents are encouraged to get involved in the Premier’s Active April health and fitness challenge.
Premier’s Active April encourages all Victorians to commit to doing 30 minutes of physical activity a day during April. It’s free, it’s fun and it’s part of the Victorian Government’s commitment to get more people active and healthy.
Greater Shepparton City Council is offering participants a number of incentives to get active, including:
Once people sign up to Active April, they will need to download a copy of their registration card which they will need to print out and take with them to redeem the offers at Aquamoves and the Stadium.
Council’s Director Community Kaye Thomson encouraged families to get active and healthy while enjoying our fantastic health and fitness facilities.“Greater Shepparton has some fantastic walking paths and exercise facilities so it’s easy to do 30 minutes of exercise,” Ms Thomson said.
“It’s also a great opportunity to exercise with your friends and family members and compare your results against each other at the end of the challenge. Exercising with other people can help you stay on track and motivated throughout the month.”
Local resident Mim Cuthbert is participating in Premiers Active April. “It’s a great reminder to be physically active every day. I will be using the free passes to Aquamoves and try out some of the group fitness classes. Our family has registered for the pedometer challenge, so we are keeping each other on track over the school holidays. We also plan to head to Activities in the Park to spend as much time together outdoors whilst the weather is still warm.”
Premiers Active April has some great incentives just for signing up to the challenge as well a chance to win prizes and weekly email tips on healthy eating and being active.
For more information or to register, visit https://www.activeapril.vic.gov.au/ and visit the My Local page on the website to view the available facility offers.
