Children’s Week is an annual national celebration recognising children’ talents, skills, achievements and rights commencing from Saturday 23 October to Sunday 31 October.
Council are providing a range of free activities for children, parents, carers and families’ to enjoy with the theme for 2021 being ‘Children have the right to choose their own friends and Safely connect with others’, based on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child Article 15
Mayor, Cr Kim O’Keeffe said “The COVID-19 pandemic has had an impact on our community, especially our children and this is a wonderful way to get our children, families and carers involved and recognising the talents of all our children with some fun activities that are on offer throughout the week. There really is something for everyone to enjoy.”
The week is filled with a series of free and fun online activities that the whole family and carers can enjoy include:
Monday: Yoga with Lynn
Tuesday: Easy nutrition cooking class with Katie Thorpe
Wednesday: Ambulance Victoria tour
Thursday: Story time with Early Years
Friday: Mooroopna Primary School band performances Sing-a-long
Competitions and prizes are on offer throughout Children’s Week.
