Greater Shepparton City Council is excited to announce a series of Summer Splash pool parties, as part of the Resilience in Recovery program’s ongoing effort to support social connectedness within the Greater Shepparton community following the October 2022 floods.
Over recent months, Resilience in Recovery, led by Council’s Flood Recovery team, has played an instrumental role in fostering connections and supporting the community on the path to recovery. And now, community members will have the opportunity to enjoy a series of free pool parties, each focused on providing a safe, fun environment that fosters family and community connectedness.
Council’s Flood Recovery Manager, Carla Dixon, said the pool parties were an initiative put forward by a young person on the Mooroopna Recovery Committee, with the intent of providing fun and connection.
“The parties build on the community’s existing assets and provide a wonderful space for our community to connect through outdoor leisure. We are really looking forward to welcoming everyone and creating lasting memories, as we continue this journey of flood recovery, supporting one another every step of the way.”
“We know children and young people can have a hard time after natural disasters, so we are also working with a number of local service organisations to ensure resources are on hand; providing advice and information to parents, carers and young people on ways to meet their emotional and mental health needs, while supporting those around them”, Ms Dixon said.
A snapshot of the events is provided below, with more exciting details to be unveiled in the coming weeks.
