Greater Shepparton City Council was awarded bronze in the Local Government awards for tourism at the RACV Victorian Tourism Awards annual gala last night.
Greater Shepparton City Council Director Sustainable Development Geraldine Christou said the state-wide recognition was a great accomplishment for the region.
“We are incredibly proud of the recognition and for the ongoing efforts from the Economic Development team at Council and our local businesses that contribute to our community both socially and economically,” Ms Christou said.
“Council strategically works towards positioning Greater Shepparton as a key major events, arts and sporting destination of regional Australia and receiving such awards means we are continuing to achieve this goal.”
Last night saw fellow Councils Bass Coast take out the silver and City of Greater Bendigo awarded the gold.
Council has previously been awarded a finalist and silver place in the Local Government category.
For more than 30 years the Victorian Tourism Awards have showcased and recognised the state’s leaders in tourism excellence.
