Greater Shepparton City Council is pleased to announce the Greater Shepparton Visitor Centre was awarded silver at the 2025 Victorian Tourism Awards.
In Summary
The award was received in the Visitor Information Servicing category, at the Gala Ceremony held last night in Melbourne.
The Visitor Centre was one of five finalists in the category, with City of Melbourne Visitor Services winning gold and Mildura Visitor Information Centre receiving bronze, other finalists included Ballarat Visitor Information Centre and Warrnambool Visitor Information Centre (2024 gold winner).
The award reflects Council’s efforts to grow the visitor economy during 2024/2025, including direct support for tourism operators, development programs to build industry capability, and marketing campaigns that attracted new audiences to the destination brand Shepparton & Goulburn Valley.
Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, congratulated the Visitor Economy team and highlighted the excellent work behind achieving this recognition.
The announcement follows an extensive application process, including an onsite judging visit. Greater Shepparton Visitor Centre showcased innovative initiatives such as its role in the TAC Pause Stop program, blending road safety with local storytelling through the Careful Cobber installation.
The Centre also supported major events like the GT Nationals with tailored visitor servicing, pop-up booths, themed Moooving Art cows, and custom itineraries. Collaboration with Goulburn Region Tourism on a forward-thinking Visitor Servicing Strategy further ensured consistent, high-quality experiences across the region.
The 2025 Victorian Tourism Awards are facilitated by the Victoria Tourism Industry Council – the dedicated peak body and leading advocate for Victoria’s tourism and events industry.
