Greater Shepparton City Council is seeking input from the community to help redevelop the Sport 2050 Strategy.
The Sport 2050 Strategy is Council's long-term plan for ensuring every resident has the opportunity to play sport, now and into the future.
It describes Council's role in constructing and maintaining sporting facilities and infrastructure, as well as supporting sporting clubs to ensure they are given the best opportunities to succeed.
Council is currently undertaking a review of the strategy to redevelop the document so that it provides a platform for the further enhancement of sport provision and facilities throughout the region over the next 10 plus years.
Manager Parks, Sport and Recreation Tim Zak said the review was an important initiative for Council to ensure it is well informed about the communities’ current and future sporting needs.
“Your input will help Council plan for the provision of sporting assets both now and into the future.”
Mr Zak said the demand for sport and sporting facilities across Greater Shepparton was continuing to grow and Council were striving to ensure their services meet this demand.
The Sport 2050 Strategy takes this growth into account, along with investigating the need for future reserve locations, the diversity of sports catered for across the region and any opportunities to increase usage.
“We encourage everyone to jump onto the Shaping Greater Shepp website and let us know which sporting facilities they use and how often,” Mr Zak said.
“This valuable feedback will help Council develop the future of sport in Greater Shepparton and ensure we maintain our reputation as the sporting capital of regional Victoria.”
Residents have until 5pm on Monday 7 June to complete the survey. To have your say, click here.
