Illuminate to light up the SAM and Victoria Park Lake Precinct

The all new Illuminate festival will take over the SAM and Victoria Park Lake precinct with art installations, music and performances, children activities and food trucks this weekend.

Part of the 2022 Shepparton Festival program, Illuminate will run over two nights to celebrate the new Shepparton Art Museum (SAM) Precinct and the region’s creativity, innovation and perseverance.

This Friday 25 March, the opening night program of Illuminate presents:

  • Music headliner Clare Bowditch with supporting acts by Grim Fawkner and Adalita performing at the music lounge at bottom of Orchard Hill
    Grim Fawkner at 6.00pm
    Adalita at 7.00pm
    Clare Bowditch at 8.00pm
  • Lighting Adventure Pathway along Victoria Park Lake, spot glowing Lilly pads floating in the water
  • Roving Illuminated performers staring the Swan Sisters and Skullies
  • Silent Disco moving and grooving almost every half hour, 6.00pm, 6.30pm, 7.00pm, 7.30pm and 8.30pm
  • Kids creation area with a variety of children’s activities and experiences  
  • 20+ Food Trucks
  • Robot Garden, lighting and art installation in the Kaiela Arts Healing Garden

The final night feature program of Illuminate, Saturday 26 March will present all of the amazing light works, illuminated performers, food trucks and activities as Friday night as well as:

  • Music headliner Christine Anu with supporting acts by Drew Walker, Deans of Soul and Eliott performing as well as a Welcome to Country performed by Walumbarra and Minyerra at 6:45pm

    Eliott at 7.10pm
    Christine Anu at 9.00pm
  • CFA Torchlight Procession, taking place at 8.30pm the Country Fire Association will lead their annual Urban Senior, Rural Junior and Senior State Firefighting Championships annual Torch Light Relay along Wyndham Street and finishing at the SAM Precinct
  • LASER, LIGHT and SOUND SHOW, for Saturday night only experience a mesmerising laser show that will seamlessly highlight the SAM Building and Victoria Park Lake, the 12 minute show commences at 9.50pm and will be the finale of Illuminate

Before arriving to Illuminate here’s a few tips to help you get the best out of your experience:

  • PARKING: Plan your ride ahead of time, we’re expecting large crowds so it may take some time to find a park. Head over to the website for a map of available parking in the area, please try to car pool if you are attending with a group. Please be mindful to not park in driveways. Saturday night only, Wyndham Street north bound lanes will be closed and unavailable to traffic or parking between 4pm and 11pm.
  • CASH OR CARD: Vendors will be accepting both cash and card payments during the festival.
  • SEATING: There will be designated areas to enjoy the stage and food trucks, but please feel free to bring your own picnic rugs and chairs to be comfortable and enjoy the music, food and lights.
  • COVIDsafe: In line with the current Victorian State Government COVIDsafe settings, there are no vaccination requirements to attend Illuminate and you will not need to check in to the Service Victoria app. There are things we each can do to keep ourselves and others safer. Although not mandatory, we encourage you to bring a face mask to Illuminate, where possible maintain a 1.5m distance from others and remember to regularly wash or sanitise your hands throughout the event.
