Improvement works at Victoria Park Lake continue

Greater Shepparton City Council will commence demolition works on the former service station and café at Victoria Park Lake on 12 February in line with the Victoria Park Lake Masterplan.

Greater Shepparton City Council has engaged experienced contractors to demolish the former Shell Service Station and the old Café By The Lake. The sites are expected to be cleared by the end of May.

Greater Shepparton City Council Director Infrastructure/City Engineer Phil Hoare said the site at the Victoria Park Lake will be fenced off for the safety of all park users. “The demolition works will not impact on users of the park and the caravan park will be accessible via Fitzjohn Street,” said Mr Hoare.

“The shared paths in the area will remain accessible and activities like Parkrun and other events will not be impacted,” said Mr Hoare. “Please take note of signage around the site as it will be an active work site with heavy machinery and we need to ensure the safety of the public during these works.”

Mr Hoare also confirmed that the public toilet block and BBQs adjacent to the former service station will remain operational in the interim and will ultimately be replaced during the new SAM project.
