KidsTown's brand new Fruit Bin Maze maze will open to the public in time KidsFest on 17 September 2016.
The KidsTown facility in Mooroopna is a local grown success, built on community support and the generosity of local companies and businesses.
After almost 20 years of ongoing use by residents and visitors, the condition of the fruit bin maze at KidsTown has gradually deteriorated. The maze at the time was inspired by the strong presence of the fruit production industry.
To improve the condition of the maze, the KidsTown Team undertook the design of an innovative and exciting new play structure which retained the ‘fruit bin’ theme. Construction is underway and the installation of the timber flooring, wall panels and landscaping has been undertaken by volunteers and KidsTown staff.
The new maze is almost complete, and the success is all due to the generous donation of time and resources from all volunteers including community members, local contractors, external businesses and Council staff.
Greater Shepparton City Council’s Director Community Kaye Thomson said “the support from all volunteers has been amazing. I sincerely thank Chris Martin Building & Maintenance, Trevaskis Engineering, Jarvis Delahey Contractors and JMAR Constructions for their support.
“Their efforts toward this project is outstanding and I thank and acknowledge the great work and time they have dedicated towards seeing this maze complete,” she said.
