Due to the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, the Land of Plenty Festival will not be going ahead on 30 October 2021. Greater Shepparton City Council and Land of Plenty will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and the Chief Health Officer’s advice for the festival to proceed on Saturday 9 April 2022.
The event will still take place at the Shepparton Showgrounds and will give the people of Greater Shepparton and surrounding areas something to look forward to, following a really challenging lockdown period.
The Land of Plenty line-up has got something for everyone! From relatable best mates Ball Park Music, to rising phenomenon G Flip, Hip Hop legend Drapht, Punk Rock Heroes Body Jar as well as some new favourites like Birds, Unearthed High winners Teenage Joans and rapidly rising talent Matilda Pearl and Vince the Kid.
Joining these incredible artists on the day will be a very special event-specific performance ‘BAIYIYA GARRA presented by STILL HERE’ curated by respected Yorta Yorta artist DRMNGNOW. This special curation will centre on themes of ‘woka’ (country) and Indigenous platform, featuring emerging Yorta Yorta and other First Peoples specials guest artists.
With Ball Park Music claiming #4 ‘Cherub’ and #64 ‘Day & Age’ in this year's triple j hottest 100 countdown as well as #17 ‘It’s Nice to Be Alive’ in the Hottest 100 of the Decade. Also coming off a Hottest 100 high is certified hitmaker G Flip with a staggering three songs in this year’s countdown with #7 ‘Hyperfine,’ #44 You & I, #78 Lady Marmalade [Like A Version].
All this as well as rides, food trucks, art installations and heaps more. Good times ahead!
Pick of the crop talent search launches
We're also excited to announce the launch of the Land of Plenty 'PICK OF THE CROP' competition, a chance for a local artist/band from the Greater Shepparton region to perform on the Land of Plenty main stage.
To apply, local artists just need to head to the website Land of Plenty Festival, share some of their music with us and tell us why they would love to be part of the Land of Plenty line up.
LAND OF PLENTY
Quotes attributable to Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Councillor Kim O’Keeffe
“Council is delighted to once again partner with Red Hill Entertainment who successfully hosted the inaugural festival in 2019 and since then have hosted COVID safe events in other regions.”
“We look forward to seeing the Pick of the Crop entries, our region is full of talented performers who would all complement the Land of Plenty line-up. The 2019 Pick of the Crop winner Charlie McCosh played an excellent set and went on to perform at a range of events including our very own Goulburn Vibes set.”
“Please be vigilant and stay COVID safe, get your vaccine when you are eligible to do so, follow the health guidelines and this way we can welcome some of the nation’s best artists to our area for a once in a life time performance, bringing some much needed economic stimulus to our region.”
