Last chance to nominate a local hero for the 2021 Australia Day Awards

Time is running out to nominate local residents for the 2021 Australia Day Awards.

Nominations for Murchison will close this Saturday 21 November, while nominations for the rest of the municipality will close Monday 30 November.

Nominations are accepted under Citizen of the Year and Young Citizen of the Year (aged under 30) and Community Event of the Year for Arcadia, Dookie, Mooroopna, Murchison, Shepparton, Tatura and Toolamba.

Nominations are also sought for other categories including sports and education awards.

This year Victoria and Greater Shepparton have dealt with plenty of hardship. The devastating bushfires followed by a global pandemic have left many residents needing a helping hand.

The heroes that have helped out in these times are an example of the type of people who deserve to be recognised in the 2021 Greater Shepparton Australia Day Awards.

The Australia Day Committee is monitoring the COVID-19 situation, and due to restrictions and the uncertain nature of the pandemic, celebrations for the awards in 2021 may look different to past years.
