The Tallygaroopna Football Netball Club and the Shepparton Swimming Club have shared in close to $7,500 in funding as part of Greater Shepparton City Council’s 2021/2022 Our Sporting Future Funding Program.
The Tallygaroopna Football Netball Club were awarded $4,975 as part of Round Three under the Sports Aid category, which will be used to purchase jumpers for Junior Football. The Shepparton Swimming Club received $2,461 in funding under the Women’s and Girls category which will go towards advanced coaching and development coaching courses.
The Our Sporting Future Funding Program was established to assist community organisations with the implementation of small to medium sized facility development, women and girls sport development and youth aged participation in sport projects throughout the region.
In previous rounds, projects such as coaching development courses for the Shepparton Masters Swimming Club and the purchase of equipment for Shepp Feathers Incorporated (Badminton) have been funded through the Our Sporting Future Program. Other projects which can be funded include sports infrastructure development, programs to further develop women and girls skills, leadership or training opportunities, programs or skills training to help increase junior and youth aged participation and planning initiatives for clubs, associations and leagues.
Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali said Council were pleased to be able to allocate this funding back into the community to help support our local sporting clubs and organisations.
“This funding is ready and waiting to be awarded each round so I encourage the sporting clubs and organisations in our region to consider applying,” he said.
“The Our Sporting Future Funding Program has been around for nearly 15 years and has seen close to $1.5 million in sporting funding injected into the community. Anything Council can do give back to local clubs and help them achieve positive outcomes is a win for us.”
Round One of the 2022/2023 Our Sporting Future Funding Program is currently open. To find out more information or to apply, visit Council’s website Community grants and funding page.
