The panel representatives, who change each year, meet with Minister for Local Government Melissa Horne four times a year to offer advice on legislative, regulatory, strategic and policy issues affecting councils across Victoria.
This year’s panel is expected to focus its work on governance, representation and inclusion, which Cr Sali said were important topics in regional cities, including Greater Shepparton.
“It is fantastic to be elected to the 2024 Local Government Mayoral Advisory Panel. This provides Greater Shepparton and Regional Cities Victoria with a seat at the table, allowing me to regularly meet with the Minister and raise important issues affecting our communities,” he said.
