Greater Shepparton City Council is excited to announce that Murchison has been selected as a finalist for the 2023 Victorian Tiny Tourism Town Awards.
Council encourages members of the community to participate in the final stage of the judging process, the public vote, which will open this Thursday 1 June at 9am, and close on Thursday 22 June at 5pm.
“We’d love to get as many votes as possible, and hopefully get Murchison over the line as the state winner,” Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali said.
“Murchison was selected as the ‘tiny town’ to be nominated in 2023, in recognition of the Murchison community’s amazing response during the floods and to aid with flood recovery to support and grow our region’s visitor economy.”
The Victorian winners will be announced on Wednesday 26 July, and the state winners will have the opportunity to represent Victoria at the Australian Top Tourism Town Awards.
A small town full of character and charm, Murchison is the perfect representative of Shepparton & Goulburn Valley, a region of unique connected townships. With a rich history and expansive natural surrounds, this hidden gem invites visitors to take time out, connect, and make memories.
Vote for Murchison at the 2023 Victorian Tiny Tourism Town Awards
Voters will also enter the draw to win 'one perfect Melbourne weekend' for two, sponsored by Time Out and Sofitel Melbourne on Collins. The prize includes two nights' accommodation with breakfast and two dining vouchers to some of Melbourne's best venues.
About the Tourism Awards:
This is the second year Victorian Tourism Industry Council has run the Top Tourism Town Awards. The TAC Victorian Top Tourism Town Awards showcase the value of tourism to the towns and communities across Victoria and celebrate the diversity and outstanding regional destinations of our state.
Within the Top Tourism Town Awards there are three categories Top Tourism Town (which Shepparton was entered and a finalist last year), Small Tourism Town, and Tiny Tourism Town (those with a population below 1,500 people).
