National Pet Adoption Day on this Saturday

Greater Shepparton City Council’s Animal Shelter is working with Pets Domain by participating in National Adoption Day this Saturday 10 September from 10.00am until 2.00pm at 290 Benalla Road.

The pet adoption day aims to find new homes for cats and dogs, with all animals being vet checked, desexed, microchipped, vaccinated and treated for worms and fleas.

Greater Shepparton City Council’s Director Corporate Services Chris Teitzel said “adopting an animal from the Shepparton Animal Shelter can be a rewarding experience.

“The Council’s Animal Shelter and Pets Domain staff emphasise matching the right home with the right animal, aiming to ensure the animal’s new home is long lasting.

“Staff are available to assist those who need help adopting a homeless pet. The price to adopt a dog can range from $250 to $400 depending on age, and a cat is $100 to adopt,” he said.

Greater Shepparton residents can visit Pets Domain in Benalla Road to learn about the process and benefits of adopting a shelter animal, as well as meet animals looking for a new forever home.
