Greater Shepparton City Council wishes to advise community members that the upcoming National Tree Day planting event, scheduled for this Sunday 27 July 2025, has been postponed to Sunday 31 August 2025 due to significant rainfall predicted in the days leading up to the event.
In Summary
The 2025 celebration will take place on Sunday 31 August at Chivalry Drive, Mooroopna, where attendees will be able to enjoy a day outdoors, connect with nature and treat themselves to a free BBQ.
Council staff and dedicated volunteers will be available throughout the morning to guide participants. All necessary materials, including plants, stakes, guards, mats, gloves, and tools will be provided.
Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, encouraged families and individuals to mark the calendar and take part in the event.
“We were looking forward to this year’s celebration, but the significant rainfall predicted in the days leading into the event will create unsafe conditions for participants, leading to the decision to postpone,” he said.
“The good news is we’ve locked in a new date on Sunday 31 August 2025, and we are excited to welcome residents and volunteers for a fantastic day of planting and community spirit in Mooroopna.”
There will be native plant giveaways on the day. Community members are encouraged to pre-register through the website by tapping here.
