New COVID-19 testing sites open in Shepparton

Greater Shepparton City Council is working to respond to the current COVID-19 outbreak in Shepparton, with 12 positive cases currently confirmed.

Two new testing sites have been set up in the north and south of Shepparton to accommodate the increased demand for testing.

A drive-through testing site has been opened at the stadium at Sports City on Numurkah Road and will be open until 7.45pm tonight (Friday 20 August 2021). A second drive-through testing site will open at the Harness Racing Club on Melbourne Road from tomorrow morning (Saturday 21 August 2021).

Please note: Opening, closing, and waiting times vary from site to site and day to day. Check GV Health's Facebook Page for the latest waiting times.

Goulburn Valley Health’s Acute Respiratory Clinic on Graham Street is also operating and will be open until 7.45pm tonight (Friday 20 August 2021). Goulburn Valley Health will confirm the opening hours for testing sites over the weekend later this evening.

If you are attending one of these testing sites, please wear a mask and bring some water and food with you in case there are delays.

Mayor, Cr Kim O'Keeffe said now is the time for everyone with even the mildest of symptoms to come forward and get tested.

"Please also encourage any family and friends who are experiencing symptoms to get tested. This is what we all need to do to keep ourselves, our family and our community safe," she said.

"Greater Shepparton has gone through this once before and successfully come out the other side and we can get through it again."

Please ensure you wear a mask, be mindful of hygiene practices and maintain social distancing when around others.

Make sure you continue to observe and follow the restrictions put in place by the Victorian Government.

"Look after your family and those you care about. Now is the time for us all to work together as a community to keep everyone safe," Cr O'Keeffe said.

"We have done this before and we can do it again."
