Greater Shepparton’s Moooving Art herd has welcomed two new bovines.
Journey and Blossom are the latest additions, and are now on display at the Greater Shepparton Visitor Centre.
Journey is an Indigenous-inspired cow, painted by talented local indigenous artist Ross Morgan.
Journey is the third cow that Ross has hand painted in the collection, the other two being Family and Coming Together. All three cows are reflective of the region’s local Indigenous connections, and each have personal links to Ross and his family.
Blossom is a floral design by another local artist from Mooroopna in Amanda Charquero.
Blossom joins Amanda’s other flowery cow Sunnyfields, who can currently be found grazing in Monash Park.
“It’s been a great opportunity to be part of the local artists and to share my work with others in the community,” Amanda said.
“Blossom was inspired from the happiness you feel when you receive a bunch of flowers or walking in a beautiful garden full of colour! A sense of happiness and calm. Sunnyfields was inspired from a field of sunflowers that lay under the blue sky on a bright sunny day, bright and warm like the sun’s rays.”
Greater Shepparton’s Moooving Art Cows continue to be an iconic part of the Greater Shepparton landscape, increasing the availability of public art throughout the municipality, and proving to be extremely popular with visitors.
Scattered throughout the municipality, Moooving Art is an ever-changing public art exhibition using a unique canvas – 3D life sized cows, paying homage to our dairy industry.
You can find Moooving Art cows in parks, gardens, businesses and public spaces. There are more than 90 in the herd and each one is an individual and quite distinctive in their persona.
“Our Moooving Art Cows are a part of our region’s identity. They honour our rich dairy industry while also providing the opportunity for some of our most talented local artists to showcase their work. We thank Ross and Amanda for their latest pieces of art, and can’t wait to see them join the herd out and about in Greater Shepparton,” Mayor Cr Seema Abdullah said.
You can see the two new additions to the herd at the Visitor Centre, which is open seven days a week 10am–3pm.
