New dining pods sprouted across the region

Locals and visitors have more areas to rest, enjoy meals and socialise in parks as Greater Shepparton City Council installs new dining pods across the region.

Council received $575,000 through the COVID Safe Outdoor Activation Fund from the Victorian Government to create more outdoor dining locations and beautify streetscapes.

Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Councillor Kim O’Keeffe said the dining pods were the latest initiative from the funding.

“Council has worked on a number of projects under this funding including an extension to the tree bud lighting project, supply of outdoor umbrellas to local hospitality businesses with outdoor dining, roving music and outdoor entertainment and pedal boats for the Victoria Park Lake precinct. These initiatives which activate our outdoor spaces and support local businesses have all been well received by the community and we hope users enjoy the new dining pods,” Cr O’Keeffe said.

“The dining pods are a great way for people to get together in a comfortable space to enjoy a picnic and food from local eateries.”

There are a total of six new dining pods which can be found at Victoria Park Lake, Murchison Public Gardens, Dookie CWA Garden, Toolamba Public Recreation Reserve and Mooroopna’s Ferrari Park. They feature a shelter covering to ensure visitors have a positive experience at parks all year round.
