New Shade Sails for Furphy Park

Greater Shepparton City Council was pleased to open new shade sails today over Furphy Park in Shepparton, identified by the community as a priority project within the St Georges Road Community Plan.

The shade sails were made possible by the Department of Health and Human Services who funded the sails, with Council managing the project.

Greater Shepparton City Council Director Community Kaye Thomson thanked the Department of Health and Human Services for funding the project, and the St Georges Road Community Plan Committee for their involvement in the project.

“The shade sails are visually appealing with their bright colours reflective of the popular children’s group, The Wiggles, but most importantly they maximise the opportunity for the community to use the playground in all seasons and conditions and protect children and supervising adults from over exposure to UV radiation.

“I am pleased to see the shade sails complete and I hope the local community enjoy utilising them as we come into the warm weather,” said Ms Thomson.
