Greater Shepparton City Council would like to advise of upcoming construction works on Nixon Street between Skene Street and Corio Street.
The works are scheduled to commence on Monday 1 August 2022, with planned completion in December 2022, weather permitting.
The project will be completed in two stages. Stage 1 works will occur in the eastern bound lane, causing the north end of Nixon Street to be closed to traffic.
Pedestrian access around Nixon Street and Deakin Reserve will be maintained throughout construction.
These works are required to renew the ageing road and improve intersection safety for both road users and pedestrians.
Works include demolition of the existing kerb, drainage and road pavement, installation of stormwater drainage, installation of tree cells and associated tree plantings, construction of concrete kerbs, footpaths and pedestrian crossings, and installation of line marking and signage.
Council asks road users to obey traffic management during this upgrade and asks that road users seek alternative routes and parking arrangements for the duration of the project.
