RAISE THE ROOF: Tatura Park outdoor arena roof officially completed

Greater Shepparton City Council has officially opened the new Outdoor Arena roof at Tatura Park.

The project included the new undercover pavilion covering the 73 by 45 metre sand equestrian arena and exhibition space, 500 lux lighting and expanded power.

Greater Shepparton Mayor Cr Dinny Adem said Tatura Park Exhibition and Equestrian Complex is fast becoming one of the premier event venues of its type in the country.

“In 2015, the venue hosted over 50 events generating over 30,000 visitors and 25,000 bed nights for the region. The economic impact of the facility was valued at $3.9 million with International Dairy Week contributing a staggering $2.2 million to the region,” Cr Adem said.

“The new roofed arena will complement other key amenities at this venue including the main indoor arena, grass arena, more than 200 undercover stables, two function and catering areas, camping facilities and other amenities.

“The addition of the roof to this second arena has enormous benefits for our region and helps to keep this venue at the forefront of equestrian and events centres in Regional Victoria and Australia.”

The total project cost was $633,000 and was jointly funded by Greater Shepparton City Council with the Victorian Government contributing $499,000. Tatura Park is now one of only two equestrian facilities in Victoria with two undercover arenas giving Greater Shepparton significant advantage for existing users and when bidding for new major events.
