The community are encouraged to go online and take a look at the design and provide feedback via the website before Friday 15 May. The presentation is available on Council’s website and YouTube channel.
Greater Shepparton City Council has developed a refined Concept Design as the first part of the detailed design process for the Maude Street Mall project. This design is in line with the option adopted by Council in 2018. Council is working with consultants Group GSA to deliver the detailed design including confirmation of estimated costs and a business case.
Greater Shepparton City Council Director Infrastructure, Phil Hoare, said Council was looking forward to the community and other interested stakeholder’s response to this more detailed version of the concept design particularly now that the “virtual fly through” is available to give a better feel for what is proposed to reshape and revitalise the Mall area.
“The Mall Precinct is located in the centre of our CBD and has the potential to evolve into a thriving economic and social destination, supporting and further enabling retail, hospitality, community events and various business services”
“Attractive and functional public spaces are critical to a high performing CBD as they strengthen the connection between people and the places they share”
“The Refined Concept Design builds more detail on the major features of the adopted option which adds one-way traffic back into the Mall from Fryers Street to Stewart Street and a parking area in the south end accessed from High Street. Council is now looking for feedback on the aesthetics and functionality of the streetscape features and particularly any suggested improvements to these features,” said Mr Hoare.
