Seasonal Outdoor Pools Scheduled to open for summer

The warm weather is nearly upon us, and that means the 2019/20 Greater Shepparton Outdoor Pool Season is about to kick off.

Whether you’re looking for somewhere to cool off, a family day or a spot to relax, Greater Shepparton has a pool for you.

The official season opening for the Tatura, Mooroopna and Merrigum pools is Saturday 23 November at 1pm.

This year, Council is happy to announce the opening of a new splash park at the Merrigum Outdoor Pool. The Merrigum Splash Park will have its official grand opening on Friday 22 November at 1.30pm.

Greater Shepparton City Council Manager Active Living David Booth said staff have been working hard over the winter months to prepare the pools for a busy summer.

“All the pools are looking great for another big outdoor pool season,” Mr Booth said.

“Once again, the seasonal pools will be a great place to cool down and have some fun. If you would like to get active at the pool this year, we will have a wide range of programs and activities just for you.

“There will be lots happening over summer from giant inflatables and water games for the kids, through to aqua aerobics and early morning swimming. Don’t forget to get your seasonal pool membership passes which can be used at all three pools.”

For a full list of programs and activities, Greater Shepparton residents can head down to their local pool or download the Get Mooving Greater Shepparton mobile phone app.

Pools will remain open until the second weekend in March, with the final day of the summer pool season set for Monday 9 March 2020.

Council advises residents to contact your local pool for opening times, depending on weather conditions these could change.

Extended operating hours will come into play from December 23. On any day where the weather is above 40 degrees, Council will endeavour to keep the pools open longer. On days where the temperature is 24 degrees or below the pools will not open.

For more information, phone your local pool or visit the Aquamoves website.
