Greater Shepparton City Council will be carrying out works in Maude Street Mall in the coming weeks as part of the detailed design of revitalisation plans.
At the August Ordinary Council Meeting the contract for Detailed Design of the Maude Street Mall Redevelopment was awarded to consultants “Group GSA”. Group GSA will complete the functional design, business case, detailed design and documentation of works identified for the redevelopment in line with the adopted Option 4.
As part of this process it is necessary for existing infrastructure beneath the mall surface to be accurately located.
Local firm Watters Electrical will commence work in various areas of the Mall on Monday 14 October 2019.
Greater Shepparton City Council Director Infrastructure Phil Hoare said the works would be carried out in two stages.
“These investigations aim to locate existing infrastructure beneath the surface. Accurate information is required to ensure the design and ultimately construction is adequately planned and costed,” Mr Hoare said.
“The first stage will take approximately one week to complete and will involve the use of scanners to assist in determining what areas will need to be examined further through excavation.”
Minor excavation works to conduct visual inspection and obtain depths of underground infrastructure in selected areas of the mall are planned to begin on Monday 21 October.
The detailed design and business case is planned to be completed by mid-2020.
“This is an exciting project and Council looks forward to working with Group GSA and the community on what will be the basis of one of Council’s biggest projects,” Mr Hoare said.
