Greater Shepparton City Council invites all residents to the 2020 Shepparton Apology Breakfast to acknowledge the 12th anniversary of the National Apology.
The Shepparton Apology Breakfast will be held on Thursday 13 February in the Queen’s Gardens from 8am - 8.55am, with attendees asked to arrive by 7.45am.
Mooroopna-born Lena-Jean Charles-Loffel will be the guest speaker at the event. Lena works at Aboriginal health promotion business Spark Health, engaging with the Aboriginal community at a grassroots level.
Lena is particularly passionate about working with children to create healthy lifestyle ambassadors for the next generation.
This event is hosted by the Shepparton Region Reconciliation Group and supported by Rumbalara Aboriginal Co-operative, ASHE - Academy of Sport Health and Education, Greater Shepparton City Council, The Healing Foundation, Gallery Kaiela, Notre Dame College, Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, Yorta Yorta Nation Aboriginal Corporation and Sandhurst Catholic Care.
”This is an important day in the Greater Shepparton calendar as we acknowledge the anniversary of the National Apology,” Mayor Cr Seema Abdullah said.
“We encourage the community to get involved in the 2020 Apology Breakfast and show support for our local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.”
RSVP is required by Wednesday 12 February 2020 by registering here.
RSVP is necessary to ensure there is breakfast for all.
