Step Up to Clean Up Greater Shepparton

Greater Shepparton City Council, RiverConnect and Shepparton Mooroopna Urban Landcare Group will host a Clean Up Australia Day event on Sunday 7 March at Jackson Park, Broken River Drive, Shepparton.

Clean Up Australia Day is a national initiative of community groups and local government joining together to tidy up the environment, and is celebrating 31 years of operation in 2021.

Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor Kim O’Keeffe said “These activities help to teach children about keeping our bush clean for native wildlife and about being mindful of our environmental impact. By cleaning up the banks of the Broken River, volunteers will be helping to preserve this important habitat for the threatened Squirrel Glider, as well as helping to keep rubbish out of our rivers”.

“This is a great initiative for families in the region. Clean Up Australia Day involves children in volunteering and assists them to learn more about conservation. By joining in on Sunday 7 March, everyone can contribute to a more sustainable future for Greater Shepparton”.

“Thank you to all Greater Shepparton residents who help to keep our beautiful environment clean. Also, thank you to our sponsors for hosting such an important event” said Cr O’Keeffe.
