Supporting residents through flood clean-up

Joint clean-up funding, more operational support and wider relief payment eligibility has been made available as tens of thousands of Victorians continue to deal with widespread flooding across the state.

Flood Recovery Hotline 1800 560 760

The Flood Recovery Hotline is a single, state-wide number that Victorians impacted by the October 2022 floods can call for help with:

  • Navigating available support
  • Clean-up
  • Temporary accommodation
  • Mental health and wellbeing support

The Flood Recovery Hotline is open from 7.30am to 7.30pm every day.

For households

  • Victorian Emergency Relief Assistance Payment
    The one-off payment is to help you and your household meet immediate and essential needs, like emergency shelter, food, clothing or personal items.
  • The Emergency Re-establishment Payment
    Provides assistance to households of limited financial means, whose home is uninhabitable, destroyed or is inaccessible. The payment can cover clean-up, emergency accommodation, repairs, rebuilding (a principal place of residence), and replacing some damaged contents.
  • Australian Government Disaster Recovery Allowance
    Support if you’ve lost income as a direct result of the Victorian Floods available for a maximum of 13 weeks. 
  • Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment
    A lump sum payment to help with major damage to your property or other assets. 
  • Clean-up Program 
    The Victorian Government are providing $150 million towards a coordinated clean-up program for the hardest hit areas of the floods. Call the clean-up register on 1800 560 760 for more info.
  • Salvation Army - Financial Assistance
    The Flood Recovery Grant is a one off individual payment for those in flood effected households. $150 per adult and $50 per child is available. Applications must be completed in person at:
    • the MacIntosh Emergency Relief Centre, Thompson St, Shepparton between 10am and 4pm, Monday to Friday; or
    • Shepparton Salvation Army, 99 Nixon Street, Shepparton between 10am and 4pm, Tuesday to Friday.

For small businesses

  • Small Business Immediate Flood Relief Program
    A $54 million program for small business owners whose livelihoods have been affected by the floods. Businesses can apply for a one-off payment of $5000 to support immediate needs.
  • Business and Community Sport Flood Recovery Grants
    OPENING SOON - Applicants can soon apply for up to $50,000. Funds can be used to cover expenses resulting from significant direct damage to an applicant’s property, assets, stock or equipment. Full details and eligibility criteria will be included in the grant application guidelines when the program opens.
  • Australian Government Disaster Recovery Allowance

For primary producers

  • Agriculture Victoria - Financial support for flood-affected farmers
    Three support packages are available for flood-affected farmers:
    • Primary Producer Recovery Grants:  Up to $75,000 grants to cover the cost of recovery  and get businesses up and running again. Note: This replaces the $10,000 Primary Producer Flood Clean–Up, Relief Grants announced on 19 October. Producers that have received a Primary Producer Flood Clean–Up Relief Grant of $10,000 can now apply for up to a further $65,000 under the Primary Producer Recovery Grant, bringing the total to $75,000.
    • Rural Landholder Grants: Up to $25,000 grants to cover the costs of disaster impacts for small-scale producers.
    • Primary Producer Concessional Loans: Up to $250,000 to restore or replace damaged equipment and infrastructure, or to cover the short-term business expenses.
    • Primary Producer Transport Subsidies: Up to $15,000 to support the transport of emergency fodder or stock drinking water, and the movement of livestock.

For sporting groups

  • Community Sport Emergency Flood Assistance Program
    The Victorian Government program assists Victorian sport and active recreation organisations directly affected by the October 2022 Victorian floods. $5,000 one-off grants are available to assist in the replacement of items that have been lost, damaged or destroyed.
