Celebrate Tatura’s new Skate Park and Basketball Court with Dunk & Skate event

Tuesday 2nd of September, 2025,
Greater Shepparton City Council is inviting the community to come together on Monday 22 September from 10.30am to 1.30pm at Memorial Place, Tatura, for the Dunk & Skate event to celebrate the new Skate Park and Basketball Court.
The event will bring residents of all ages together during the school holidays to enjoy the newly constructed facilities, celebrate the creation of a new youth spot and encourage participation in healthy, inclusive activities.
Highlights on the day include skateboarding clinics run by Gnarly Neighbours, basketball workshops with the Shepparton Gators Basketball Club, shooting challenges, giveaways and giant games through Council’s Activities in the Park program.
The first 80 attendees will receive a free hot drink or vanilla slice, while additional fruit and water will also be available at no cost.
Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, said the new facilities are an important addition for Tatura.
“These spaces give young people, families and the wider community a place to connect, be active and enjoy time together. The Dunk & Skate event is an opportunity for residents to come along, try out the new facilities and celebrate what this investment means for Tatura,” he said.
Cr Rod Schubert, Midland Ward, said the new Skate Park and Basketball Court will be a great asset for the town.
“The Skate Park and Basketball Court provide a safe, inclusive space for young people to enjoy sport and recreation locally. It is fantastic to see Tatura gain facilities that will encourage active lifestyles and give our youth more opportunities right here in their own community,” he said.
The event is supported by Reclink Australia, Goulburn Valley Water and Council’s Activities in the Park program.
