Greater Shepparton City Council, through the PAWS Program, is supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged community members by offering cat de-sexing, microchipping, nail trimming, and registration for a reduced fee of just $20.
In Summary
The PAWS Program has been operating since mid-2024 and delivered in partnership with the local Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH). Council is pleased to be able to extend this program to 40 residents who meet the below eligibility criteria.
Applications are now open and will be accepted until Monday 31 March 2025. To be eligible, applicants must meet the following PAWS Program criteria:
Community members can apply online by tapping here before Monday 31 March 2025. Successful applicants will be contacted and required to pay the $20 fee before booking their cat’s de-sexing procedure. Procedures will be carried out between April and May 2025.
Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, encouraged residents to apply and to share this opportunity with those who may benefit.
“The Greater Shepparton Animal Shelter is constantly at capacity with cats and kittens in need of homes. The PAWS Program is a fantastic initiative that helps prevent unwanted litters while supporting vulnerable community members to provide the best care for their pets,” he said.
“There are only 40 places available in this program, so we encourage eligible residents to apply and spread the word to those who may need this assistance.”
The PAWS Program is supported by the Victorian Government. Tap here for more information and to apply.
