Greater Shepparton City Council is reminding those who live, work and play in the Greater Shepparton area about the survey that is currently asking for their feedback to help shape the 2025 – 2029 Council Plan.
In Summary
The Council Plan, which will be developed in consultation with the community through surveys and focus groups, sets out the goals and strategies to guide Council’s service delivery, activities and decision making over a four year period.
Importantly, it details the priorities and focus areas for Council, including the initiatives that will continue to make Greater Shepparton a desirable, healthy, prosperous, safe and inclusive place to live.
Council’s Director Corporate Services, Chris Teitzel, encouraged all residents to complete Council’s survey over the next four weeks.
“We’ve seen some really good engagement with the community since the survey opened, including feedback from 218 community members via the pop-up sessions held over the weekend in Kialla, Mooroopna, Shepparton and Tatura. Council staff will also be available at the upcoming Shepparton Winter City Market to talk to the community and capture feedback about what is important to them,” he said.
“Our community is so diverse and spread over a wide area and we want to know what is important to them, what they value, and what they imagine for Greater Shepparton for the next four years.”
Residents are also able to register their interest in joining a Community Panel to represent their community in focus workshops to discuss the ideas and feedback received via the survey.
“We are looking for a true representation of the community in the workshops, with members of differing ages, genders, locations, backgrounds and cultures. If anyone is interested in being involved, they can register for selection at the end of the survey,” Mr Teitzel said.
For those who prefer to manually fill out the survey, hard copies and survey boxes are being made available during limited times for the next four weeks, in locations around the region including Neighbourhood Houses, regional general stores and Post Offices, libraries and Council’s Customer Service counter at 90 Welsford Street, Shepparton.
The survey is open until Friday 13 September 2024 and the online version can be found on the Shaping Greater Shepp website here.
While the Council Plan is a requirement of the Local Government Act, Council is looking forward to working with the community and is committed to ensuring we have a plan that truly reflects the community’s vision.
