Greater Shepparton City Council is encouraging the community to register now for the GV Home Energy Expo, with a strong line-up of guest speakers set to feature at the free event.
Taking place on Sunday 14 June 2026 from 10am to 4pm at the McIntosh Centre, Shepparton Showgrounds, the expo will connect residents and businesses with practical, easy-to-understand advice on reducing energy costs and improving efficiency.
The event will feature a full day of expert presentations, covering some of the most in-demand topics for households looking to lower power bills and transition to smarter energy solutions.
Highlights of the speaker program include:
Cut your bills first – practical tips from GV Community Energy on reducing energy costs, electrifying your home and planning upgrades that make a real difference.
Rebates & easy electric – a breakdown of available government support and how to switch to an all-electric home, presented by SEC Victoria.
Solar and battery and electrical upgrades – Expert advice from Watters Electrical on choosing the right system, preparing your home for EVs and electric appliances, and making future-ready energy choices.
Electric vehicles explained – real-world insights into EV ownership, charging and costs from EV expert Bryce Gaton.
“Built to save” panel discussion – featuring local builder, Jesse Vella, and designer, Shane Bensch sharing how to create comfortable, energy-efficient homes.
Director Sustainable Development, Geraldine Christou said the speaker program was designed to give attendees practical, real-world knowledge they can act on immediately.
“This expo is all about helping people cut through the confusion and understand what changes will make the biggest difference to their energy bills,” she said.
“The speaker sessions bring together trusted experts who can explain everything from simple upgrades through to larger investments like solar, batteries and electric vehicles.”
Council’s Manager Environment, Sharon Terry said the event provides a valuable opportunity to access trusted advice in one place.
“People will be able to hear directly from experts, ask questions and walk away with clear next steps to reduce their energy use and costs,” she said.
“With energy prices continuing to impact households and businesses, this event is a valuable chance to get informed and feel confident about making changes.”
In addition to the speaker program, the expo will feature a wide range of exhibitors showcasing solar, batteries, electric vehicles, energy efficiency solutions, information on rebates and more.
Food vendors will also be on site, making it easy for attendees to stay, explore and make a full day of the event.
Entry is free, and attendees who register will go into the draw to win a portable induction cooktop.
Residents and business owners are encouraged to secure their spot and register online at shepp.city/gvhee.
