Turtle Talk Tatura

Turtles Australia and RiverConnect present Turtle Talk these summer school holidays on Friday 20 January. Turtles Australia experts will present everything you need to know in this interactive activity and they'll bring along some Broadshell, Eastern Long-neck and Murray Short-necked turtles to show.

This is a fun, free and family friendly option for the school holidays.

Greater Shepparton City Council’s Manager Sustainability and Environment Sharon Terry said “we encourage people to come along. Our Turtle Talk is always a popular school-holiday event with Turtles Australia experts bringing along some beautiful turtles to see up close”.

Turtles are very important to our local ecosystem and are culturally significant to Yorta Yorta people as both a totemic protector and for some species as a food source said Ms Terry.

Turtles Australia focus on the preservation of Australian freshwater turtles through educating the public and conducting research about the endangered Broad Shelled turtle and the threatened Murray short necked turtle which are both found in our local waterways. Learn how to identify turtles, their life history, threats to our local populations, and how we can help to protect these fascinating animals.
