Greater Shepparton City Council has been advised by Women’s Housing Ltd notifying that its application to the Victorian Big Housing Build to realise the development of 45 houses for Affordable Housing was unsuccessful in securing funding from the Victorian Government on this project.
At the Ordinary Council Meeting held in June 2022, Council resolved to sell part of the land at 45 Parkside Drive to Women’s Housing Ltd to facilitate the construction of 45 single storey dwellings for Affordable Housing purposes.
Women’s Housing Ltd was recently advised by Homes Victoria that the application was not successful and that no funding would be provided for the development. Women’s Housing Ltd has expressed its disappointment with the outcome and has provided its gratitude for the time, investment and effort that Council and Council officers gave in support of the application.
Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali said “Council remains hopeful that Women’s Housing Ltd will continue to seek opportunities to work with Council on future funding rounds of the Big Housing Build or other Community Housing Associations to facilitate future Affordable Housing developments”.
The land at 45 Parkside Drive will remain as Council property.
