The scholarship will assist one lucky Greater Shepparton resident aged between 18 and 20 to experience the diverse culture of Asia through a three to six month placement in a country such as Fiji, Laos, Nepal and Thailand, volunteering in the areas of education, environmental conservation or community development.
Greater Shepparton Mayor Dennis Patterson encouraged young people to apply for this once in a lifetime opportunity.
“Greater Shepparton is delighted to support this partnership which works to create opportunities for our young people to enjoy cultural experiences in the region,” Cr Dennis Patterson said.
“Such an opportunity provides positive benefits not only for the young people and the host communities but for the wider Greater Shepparton community.”
Applications close 5 September 2015 and are open to any Australian citizen, aged 18 – 20 who live in Greater Shepparton. For more information or to apply visit www.fya.org.au/asia
