RiverConnect in partnership with Birdlife Murray Goulburn will be holding a World Environment Day celebration on Sunday 4 June at 8.00am at Reedy Swamp.
This special Breakfast with the Birds for World Environment Day 2017 will include a morning birdwatching session, followed by a wetland management presentation and free BBQ breakfast. There will be a walk around the wetland observing and identifying the variety of birds that call the area home, led by members of Birdlife Murray Goulburn.
Jo Wood from Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority will also share a presentation on wetland management and monitoring. Jo conducts wetland monitoring in response to environmental water delivery, including using acoustic recording technology.
Greater Shepparton City Council Director Sustainable Development, Johann Rajaratnam said "World Environment Day is a global celebration encouraging people to reconnect with the environment. Locally, we have beautiful rivers and wetlands that support our community, economy and environment, and we encourage Greater Shepparton community members to get out and be #WithNature.”
“Get into nature and learn about the benefits of healthy wetlands for animals, communities and the environment over breakfast,” said Mr. Rajaratnam.
When: Sunday 4 June from 8.00 to 9.30am
Where: Reedy Swamp, meeting at the car park on Reedy Swamp Road
