Property

The Property Department assists in the effective management of property assets held by the Council on behalf of the community.

Greater Shepparton City Council owns property throughout the municipality for a range of functions, predominately for community or municipal purposes. It also has the care and management of various Crown Land Reserves, by appointment as the Committee of Management under the Crown Land (Reserves) Act 1978.

Council owned property assets are currently valued in excess of $60,400,000 with the building replacement value being in excess of $98,500,000. The Property Department maintains an asset register of Council land and building assets, with the categories including public halls, parks, recreation reserves, tree reserves, drainage reserves, retardation basins, retail premises, aerodrome, sale yards and car parks.

The Property Department is responsible for facilitating property related legal transaction on behalf of the Council. This extends to property sales, purchases, leases, occupancy licences and property specific projects.
