The Undera community is pleased that Stage 1 of their Youth SPOT is now complete with local youths able to enjoy a place to gather, play, socialise and enjoy.
The Youth SPOTs will be built across a number of Greater Shepparton’s small towns as a result of Greater Shepparton City Council’s Small Town Youth Recreation Spaces Strategy.
Undera is the second small town within Greater Shepparton to see Stage 1 completed, with Dookie seeing Stage 1 of their SPOT complete last month.
The Undera community will be holding a celebration on Thursday 26 October to officially open the new space. Residents can pop in as suits, with the event running throughout the afternoon into the early evening. There will be something for everyone, with a range of free art activities, games and food on offer.
Greater Shepparton City Council Director Community Kaye Thomson congratulated the Undera community on their achievement and hoped to see many young people utilising the space and using their creative skills.
“It was identified through consultation with the local young people that having a space where they can hang out and gather with their friends was important. Stage 1 of the SPOT features lots of seating options as well as power points to charge their phones and electronic devices. Each small town’s SPOT will be unique to the town and the young people residing in it.
“I encourage everyone from kids and their parents to the whole community to join the celebrations and check out the new space which has been designed for young people by young people. Parents will be able to get an understanding of where the space is and what it features, and kids can try out the new space built just for them,” said Ms Thomson.
The opening celebration will be held from 2.00pm Thursday 26 October 2017 at the Youth SPOT, located on the corner of Echuca and Madill Road, Undera.
